Zhuhai, Guangdong, P.R. China

Our P.R. China Representative Office has been established since July 2006 in the city centre of Zhuhai in the Guangdong province of P.R. China. To get here is just over a one hour ferry ride from Hong Kong or just over a two hours drive from Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province.

Zhuhai is adjacent to the former Portuguese colony of Macao and it is possible to reach it on foot by means of a land crossing. The old colony still maintains its old world charm but recent investments and attentions from Las Vegas casinos have brought new life and spirit. More and more international airlines are flying directly to Macao enabling it to be a further possible destination for some of our customers.

Due to the rapid expansion of the infrastructure in recent years it is now possible to reach any of the neighbouring manufacturing cities of Dongguan, Houjie, Changan, Jiangmen, Foshan, Panyu, Shenzhen and Guangzhou within a maximum of two hours using the ever-expanding network of expressways that have been built over recent years. China has five Special Economic Zones (SEZ) of which Guangdong Province is one.

Zhuhai is perfectly located on the edge of the industrial manufacturing power-house of Guangdong province. It is particularly famous for the high-technology industries of electronic and software that have set up base here. In addition, it has the advantage of being one of the most modern and beautiful tourist destinations in China. The attractions of Zhuhai will be enhanced early in the next decade with the completion of a road bridge spanning the estuary and introducing a road route to Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Disney resort will attract many mainland visitors and generate economic growth in this area. also, with Zhuhai being a staging area from the Mainland.

An airport for Zhuhai was built recently but it is currently used for domestic flights only. Even though it is overshadowed by its larger neighbours in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Macao and Shenzhen the usefulness of our small local airport will continue to grow as the number of flights and destinations within China increase. Most people coming to Zhuhai will route through Hong Kong or, increasingly, Guangzhou. The volume of international traffic, with Guangzhou as a transiting or final destination, is constantly growing. It is around a two hour journey from Guangzhou airport to our office and the nearest high class hotel.

Before traveling a visa must be obtained from the nearest Chinese Embassy, Consulate or Trade Mission. This is essential if coming directly to China without a stop over in Hong Kong. Border visas can be obtained in Hong Kong (allow a full day to arrange this) but they are not always available to all nationalities: for example, they are currently not available to US citizens.
