Standard footwear development process and schedule
1. Last performance level and development
The time it takes to develop a last could be as short as only a few weeks in the case where only a slight revision is needed to an existing, known and proven last. This time can stretch out to being several months depending on the end use of the footwear and the various complexities that arise in the shoe manufacturing process.
2. Development procedure and timeline (With the new last being finished or in line one being proved by customer)
- First prototype sample: 5 - 6 weeks after technical package is received
- Second prototype sample: 4 - 6 weeks after 1st sample feedback is received
- Salesman sample: 6 - 8 weeks after 2nd sample feedback is received
- Wear-test, Commercialisation, Production trial: From 3 - 5 months
